Jacksonville, IL…. State Representative Jim Watson
(R-Jacksonville) has been recognized for his legislative voting record from
three small business associations. Watson received the highest rating for the
past two years from the Automotive Parts and Services Association, Associated
Builders and Contractors of Illinois, and the Tooling and Manufacturing
Association.
“During the 2005-2006 legislative session members of the
General Assembly voted on such issues as health benefits, prevailing wage
penalties, independent contractor regulations, workers’ compensation and many
more issues that have a dramatic effect on these small businesses in Illinois”
said Watson. “I am honored to support the viewpoints of these organizations in
Springfield.”
According to officials of the APSA, the legislative ratings
demonstrate the responsiveness of Illinois legislators to their industry and
small business in general and are used by their members to determine how the
legislators are working with businesses as they compete in the market place.
The 97th District State Representative pointed
out that the State of Illinois has over 500-thousand small businesses that
employ millions of people. “Small businesses are one of the fastest growing
segments of the state’s economy and I will continue
to work hard to assist the small business community when the General Assembly
meets during the Veto Session this fall and again when our spring session gets
underway in January” Watson said.
